Among the booths at Baselworld, up on the second floor, near the Seiko booth, lies another Japanese watchmaker – Casio. Known for calculator watches (you know you had one) and G-Shocks, Casio is always quietly pushed the boundaries of technology and innovation. Whether it’s a watch with links hand-carved by an eighth generation Japanese swordsman or a developing a new carbon core structure, Casio is always looking to do something nobody else is doing. They also happen to be up on the latest trends, which right now includes rainbow watches. Since I myself have accidentally become somewhat of a rainbow watch expert (yep, that’s where I’m at now), I would be remiss to not report on the limited edition Casio MT-G 20th Anniversary B1000RB. This limited edition watch is the same as the previous MTG B1000 but with a new “rainbow” treatment to the stainless steel case. This rainbow color is achieved by ion plating that colors the metal blue and yellow, with the colors changing to violet or green as the angle of the case changes. This allows for each piece to be unique in its color variation, despite the watches not being individually numbered in the series. In addition, the B1000RB has many different functions, including a world-time, day, date, alarm, and stopwatch.
