Earlier this week, we were fortunate enough to co-host an amazing evening in New York City with Omega, celebrating the 60th anniversary of the Speedmaster. We welcomed more than 60 guests to the Soho Grand Hotel, where they were greeted with drinks, hors d’oeuvres, and a selection of modern Speedmasters. But there was a lot more to come from there.
The main event was a pair of talks, the first a discussion between our own editor-in-chief Jack Forster and Petros Protopapas, Omega International Heritage Brand Manager. Petros is the man in charge of the Omega Museum and he brought along a few legendary Speedmasters from the collection to share from the stage. The second talk was a conversation between our founder and editorial director Ben Clymer and Omega President and CEO Raynald Aeschlimann. The two discussed Omega’s continued investment in the Speedmaster line, the brand’s sponsorship of the Olympics, and how you balance heritage and innovation. After all that was over, there was one more treat in store. Guests retired to another room for cocktails and a chance to go hands-on with more than a dozen watches from Omega’s museum collection while mingling with both Raynald, Petros, Ben, Jack, and other members of the Omega and HODINKEE teams.
