As you may have heard, my colleague Cara (aka @its.cara.time) is leading a HODINKEE pop-up shop this weekend in Soho in New York City. We’re doing it one of the most beautiful and interesting retail stores in New York – the hidden gem that is Material Good. If you haven’t heard about it, check the NY Times for a quick glance at what they do. In addition to the incredible selection of vintage Hermes bags and Basquiats that Material Good always has in stock (oh, and full ranges from AP and Richard Mille), HODINKEE is bringing an incredible collection of vintage watches – and this time we haven’t forgotten the ladies.
So first, we’re going to have some men’s stuff like we always do. But we’ve focused on really the best of the best this time – think a 1950s Audemars Piguet triple calendar (seen above) that is sized right for a man or a woman. This reference was made in only 22 examples, period. It is a really remarkable watch and again, might be one of the most beautiful mid-century calendar watches.
We’ll also have things for the chronograph lovers, and that includes an amazing early 6239 with box and papers (seen here), the most mint 6241 Paul Newman we’ve come across in years (seen here) and a lovely early yellow gold Universal Geneve Tri-Compax. We will also have one of the hottest chronographs in the world right now available – an Omega CK2077 in fantastic condition with legandary caliber 33.3, two tone, silvered dial and that incredible waterproof case.
We will have an original Cartier Tortue Mono-pusher chronograph from the 1920s (you have no idea how rare or special this watch is – it is similar to the one sold by Phillips last weekend for around $ 80,000 but, to be honest, our’s is in far cleaner shape), as well as a few other early and important mid-century Tanks ranging from a few thousand to, well, more.
We will have some incredible ladies and unisex pieces from IWC (that’s cloisonné above!), Rolex, and Omega. Further, the dedicated ladies pieces? Oh, Cara brought the heat.
Think vintage Bulgari (Tubogas or enamel Serpentis – your pick), Hermes with JLC movements, Omega cocktail watches (one designed by the Albert Gilbert), and more. Finally, we will have a wide selection of new colors and shorter straps and leather accessories from the HODINKEE Shop available for the first time.
We really wanted to make this a special event and one where men and women could enjoy the love of fine watches equally. We really hope you’ll take the time to join us and meet the team if you haven’t already. Details are below:
