Hands-On: The Baltic Aquascaphe Diver

In an attempt to keep both the price point and the case thickness at a minimum, Baltic has opted to fit the Aquascaphe with Miyota’s simple and reliable 9039 movement. Just 3.9mm thick, the 9039 ticks at 4 Hz, offers both automatic winding and hand winding, and has a power reserve of 42+ hours. While I believe this is my first hands-on experience with a 9039, it is essentially a no-date 9015, which is a movement I have had in several watches. While these inexpensive Miyota’s aren’t going to set any records for accuracy, they are simple, accurate enough, and hard to kill.
