It was all about the Da Vinci at the start of the year for IWC, with a new automatic, a new Tourbillon chronograph, and a new perpetual calendar, among other watches. But the Swiss watch company has quickly switched gears and has is enriching its new collection with four new references in its technically driven Ingenieur collection, all in one go.
The new watches were introduced this morning in the UK, during the Goodwood 75th Members Meeting, an event which IWC has been a regular partner of for some years now.
Last year, the company used the event to introduce their new in-house chronograph, Calibre 69370, in a new-look Ingenieur which borrowed some iconic traits from the original model ref. 666A, made back in 1955. IWC added a couple of special editions, including the “Rudolf Caracciola” a few months later.
This year, the company is expanding its offering with four new models, including three new versions of the chronograph. The new models range from a competitive stainless steel automatic three-hander which looks even more like a vintage ref. 666A, to a high-end perpetual calendar.
Here are the fours models presented by IWC: the Ingenieur Automatic, the Ingenieur Chronograph, the Ingenieur Chronograph Sport, and the Ingenieur Perpetual Calendar Digital Date-Month. Several case materials will be offered for each model. The three-hand model with date is 40mm x 10.5mm, by the way, so it should be a great candidate for a daily wear watch. The perpetual calendar uses IWC’s digital perpetual calendar date and month display, and Ingenieur Chronograph Sport is a limited edition of 500 pieces, in a 44mm titanium case, and features a soft iron inner case for protection against magnetism as well (with a lighting-bolt shaped seconds hand to indicate its antimagnetic shielding).
The new Ingenieur will be available from £3,950 (approximately $ 4,900 at the time of publication) for the simplest model, to £15,750 (approximately $ 19,500 at the time of publication) for the most complicated. We’ll be getting our hands on these watches very soon and will be back with more information on each model once that happens.
